our story
It started with a few leftover goodie bags.
Each month, my family and I helped MUCH Hope, LLC prepare meals for families living in shelters in San Jose. One month, when my mom suggested we make mac & cheese for the children there, I was taken aback — until then, I hadn't realized that children were among those experiencing homelessness.
I had endless questions: Did the kids have toys to play with? Snacks to eat? Art supplies? Books to read? This was May 2022, shortly after my 12th birthday. We had a few extra goodie bags left over from my party, and I had the idea to share them with the children at the shelter.
That simple idea is when Sidd's Smile Bags was born. Every month since, I personally shop for snacks, seasonal stickers, and coloring books, and we tuck a brand-new pair of socks into every single bag.
We coordinate our monthly efforts with MUCH Hope, LLC, whose team kindly distributes the Smile Bags to children in the shelters. It's because of the constant support and encouragement from Sujana at MUCH Hope, LLC, that I am able to have this platform.
More recently, Costco and Bombas Socks partnered with Sidd's Smile Bags, allowing us to provide high-quality socks and amazing backpacks to the children we serve. These partnerships have helped us make an even greater impact and bring a little more comfort and joy to children facing difficult circumstances.
